Mole National Park!

By Zachary!
We took an all day car trip from Accra to Mole National Park. (above pic-Kob antelope!) When we first got there we saw crocodiles from the lookout. Then we went to our room to put on our swimsuits and there were warthogs right next to the pool and our room. The pool was refreshing except it had moss in the corners. That night the warthogs were even sleeping at our doorstep!!! Baboons roam around and were on our back patio deck at one point. The green monkeys eat the fruits our of the trees from our backporch! Amazing! There was a cute baby baboon that the father was protecting and he tried to chase (warn) us to stay back! Mommy and another person named Titi actually got chased in the parking lot! We saw a baboon take oranges from the table at the pool too!

In the morning we did our first of three morning safari hikes. On the hike we got to stand not even a foot away from the warthogs. We walked right next to the waterhole and we saw nile crocodiles and dwarf crocs. We walked around and saw Kob antelope and later the Bushbucks. There are amazing birds - my top favorites were the bukulla eagles and the woodland kingfishers and the subtle-billed stork! We then came upon an elephant (which we saw from the lookout at the waterhole in the early morning right when we woke up). He was eating leaves and we were right across a ravine from him! It was amazing that I got to see my first wild African Elephant. On these safaris you take an armed guard just in case - ours was named Christopher. He was amazing because he knew most of the birds names because he's worked there for 15 years.
When we got back we ate breakfast and went swimming!

In the afternoon we went on a jeep safari and saw many more types of animals. We saw the Roan Antelope and the Hartebeest and the Waterbuck. We were the first jeep out so we usually saw all the animals before they ran away. All the jeeps turned off and went on different dirt roads. The jeep safari was fun because we could drive around and further and take photos. We saw the shy red monkeys (patas monkeys) too. The green monkeys ran across the road and we also saw them in the trees outside our room. The baboons were also around our room and car! We did more swimming and then dinner when we got back! It felt so good to see all the wildlife. What an amazing time!

We did another safari in our car (drive/walk) in the early morning. We had Christopher meet us before the sun came up and drove down to the waterhole. We got some good pics of the crocs. We also saw a group of bachelor elephants right in front of us. So cool!!!!
