Yawn, yawn! We woke up at 5:00 and headed to the car (and then slept in the car!). At 7:30 we got to the monkey sanctuary. We hiked through the rainforest on the floor. We got bananas and fed the MONKEYS! You have to hold on tight so they monkey does not get all of it. If you give a banana to a monkey the others will come and try to grab it. Then we walked more out and saw more monkeys but they won't come to you if you don't have a banana (or corn-that's what our friends fed the monkeys the last time they visited). After we went back to the car and went to the part that you will see soon.
( The monkeys have always been sacred in this area and therefore do not have issues or aggressions towards humans. They are typically afraid and will stay back but they will come if you offer food--and they come right up! The mona monkey came over and peeled the banana in my hand and ate it in pieces right out of my hand. Just the coolest thing ever! We also saw some millipedes and some other rainforest insects and butterflies while walking. )
